Steve Gore and Without Much Ado "Variety in Musical Performance and Appreciation!"
As a singin' multi-instrumentalist, I very much enjoy the uniqueness and variety of music! Soooooooooo, my musical tastes are very eclectic! These days I play bass guitar, acoustic / electric guitars, piano / keyboards, and sing. On the occasion, I travel to S. Padre Island to sit-in on bass guitar, acoustic guitar, fatete and pahu (traditional drums) with the Nani Aloha Dancers. Over the years I've studied music theory and learned all of the brass instruments, keyboards, guitars, and percussion. I originally went to college on a full music scholarship. I've played in variety bands, rock n roll bands, community bands (West Houston Concert Band and Missouri City Pops), swing and big bands, and even played piany for a wild west shootout and saloon show (Eight Flags - Biloxi, MS). While serving in the Marines, I passed my audition on bass guitar, tuba and piano for the III Marine Division band. But they weren't gonna let me crawl in the mud, shoot things, and blow stuff up, so I declined. I designed, built and play both my bass and electric guitars (photos below). My eclectic musical tastes are expressed in my set list. I also have about a dozen originals with several more in various stages of completion.
Presently I am performing solo by singing along with my acoustic guitar and keyboard. My two sets last two hours. As bass guitar is my favorite instrument - and it's very difficult to perform solo gigs on bass - I am looking forward to establishing a performing band, calling it Without Much Ado. This will hopefully be a band with strong vocals and harmonies with multi-instrumentalists switching around to play their various instruments. I truly enjoy the synergy of talented musicians working together!
